Challenges of a Migrant Workforce
The majority of Migrant workers leave the comfort of their homes and family to
seek job opportunities abroad to fend for their families. Often, their homelands
do not present a viable employment scope for them to better their lives. Hence,
these determined workers brave the uncertainty and loneliness of jobs in other
countries in the hope of providing a better future for themselves and their loved
ones. It is nothing short of a personal sacrifice with hardships endured, loneliness
and some times, the sad but often real outcome of a strained family relationship.
Migrant workers brave the challenges of a different society, different culture and
language, and sometimes face rejection from the community they enter. Not every
person in the community is welcoming of foreign talent and this can sometimes
cause distress and a sense of feeling unwelcome in their new work places.
Sometimes, these workers need to learn new skills and understand the way things
are done in their new environment to fit in. It is never easy working outside your
comfort zone but these migrant workers have little choice but to accept whatever
conditions are given to them.
